Handmade design pieces, crafted objects and expertise never go out of fashion. Because an idea can be freely put into form unhindered by production constraints, handmade design often displays the purest form. Dominique Dufait's Tbag collection testifies to the purity and originality of handmade goods. the collection has strong architectural influences and is fully handsewn and processed. The basic form is the teabag, wellknown to all, by name of the Tbag original, and the rest of the collection is inspired by the basic form. All the bags are true 'handbags', they are to be worn by hand and completely made by hand, not even sown together with a machine but with the traditional 'saddlemakers' stitch'. hence, there are no seams and no front or back. Combining form and functionality, the archtitectural landscape of the inside of the bag makes it a true organizing pleasure.
Next to form and function, the collection is also ecofriendly: the leathers is coloured with organic materials, which leaves the structure intact: sometimes even scars (barb wire, insect bites)might still be visible. The contrast of colour between the both sides of the natural leather make for a colour play that enhances the design of the bag. Dominique creates the Tbag collection out of pure love for her craft: every bag takes quite some time to create, and large commercial quantities are impossible. Nevertheless, the activity of designing and creating is what keeps Dominique going. She graduated as an architect to later follow an extra course in fashion design, in order to combine her passions for drawing and designing. She sees cross-fertilisation of different creative forms as an essential part of the process of becoming a designer, because it pushes your creative boundaries further. The Tbag is an example of the crossing of disciplines.
