Previous weeks

On Fashionweek.be, it's Fashionweek every week.

Fashionweek.be is changed... a bit. It is now clearly a part of addictlab.com yet, ideally, every week we would select a Belgian (hence the .be, but the link with Belgium is not our most important criterium) Fashion designer.

If you would like to collaborate or be shown here, please do not hesitate to get in contact with us or upload your collection on addictlab.com

En-ya Vandenhende: self-tanning glasses.

Fresher than fresh, Addictlab knows a talent before it's even graduated. Belgian-born En-ya Vandenhende is only two years into Antwerp's Fashion Academy, and already shows she's got what it takes. At this year's graduation show , she wowed us with a geometric space-age collection that looked like the perfect blend of Viktor & Rolf's humorous and Nicholas Gesquière's architectural constructions. The reflective materials she used in her collection inspired her to make an extra collection of 'self-tanning' sunglasses which reflect the captured sunlight on the face. She exhibited this collection as 'XXXX' at the Theo Gallery in Antwerp ( http://www.theo.be) this summer, attracting a lot of curious visitors. The space-age, welded glass pieces are beautiful pieces that, together with her latest collection, show that this young lady is worth keeping an eye on.

En-ya: The collection was inspired by the "Forbidden Planet", one of the first sci-fi movies with colours, which looks incredibly outdated right now.

This vintage sci-fi feel gave me the idea to put a new perspective on it in a fashion collection. I wanted to create a 'moiré' effect by using tulle and making the clothes move under it. Also, materials such as silvery leather, combined with holograms, neopreen, vinyl, tartan and foldable materials were really effective for the image I had in mind. Colours were kept simple: black, skin colour, off whites, pistachio green, copper.

The selftanning glasses collection are a sort of 'zoom' into the self-reflective aspect of the materials of the whole collection. They are made of glass and metal frames, in colours as nacre, silver, ivy green, silver, copper, mirror and 'ultraviolet black'.

If that ain't spacey, we don't know what is.
