| Soki | Previous weeks Fashionweek.be is changed... a bit. It is now clearly a part of addictlab.com yet, ideally, every week we would select a Belgian (hence the .be, but the link with Belgium is not our most important criterium) Fashion designer. If you would like to collaborate or be shown here, please do not hesitate to get in contact with us or upload your collection on addictlab.com Search for other Fashion designers on Addictlab: Search now

| The story of Soki is one of two serependitously intertwined minds that found each other at the Ghent Academy of Arts, both studying architecture. It soon became difficult to prepare separate projects as the ideas and forms in their head were so similar. After starting to work both as an architect, they decided to launch a creative concept together: Soki. Their collection of jewelry and accessories can be seen as a continuation of their quest for pure forms, cocoons, and inhabited objects. Anything can be an inspiration but the premise for all objects is a white base, and forms imprinted with images of daily scenes and objects, collages, oldskool family pictures, kisses and stamps. The white basic layer is a feminine, fresh and yet strong statement in a reaction against superfluous luxury and accessories. (That’s right, an accessory collection against the bling). Purity and essence are the core values of these two young talents, and they plan to keep it that way, in whatever form it may come. Their objects are discreetly yet strongly present. | The collection consists of rings, earrings, pins, brooches, necklaces and postcards. All is handmade and can be customized with personal prints, words or dates. People can even ask for a specific creation based on their preferences and personality, without, of course, forgoing the basic concept/ideas/thoughts of Soki. With the trained and planning minds of real architects, they combine creative vision with practical applicability and basic design. Their future thoughts confirm this: “Our dream would be to start a vibrant design company, with similar minds so we can cater for about everything according to customers’ needs (think: the Addict! way). We’d love for people to come in and ask about a plan for their house or store, a graphic design, the scenography for an exhibition, the concept of a party, a personal jewel…! Everything would have to stay true to Soki basic values , since we are so attached to the right scenography, lay-out and atmosphere. But we do believe that a combination of powers would only bring out the best…to be continued! | |||
